Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is against the law. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights many luxuries on top of the casino, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight tables.
